October EU Securities Volumes

• Pan-European average daily value traded fell 3.87% m/m (9.92% y/y) in October, to €73.41bn.
• Auction and OTC volume declined the most, dropping 34.56% and 6.65% m/m, respectively.
• Year-to-date, average daily turnover is 2.33% higher than the same period last year and 1.82% greater than full-year 2016.
• The VSTOXX average daily close fell 6.24% m/m (-35.24% y/y), to 12.44, while the VFTSE average daily close declined 9.78% m/m (-32.21% y/y), to 9.94.
• Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (+99 bps), Cboe CXE Europe (+68 bps) and Nasdaq OMX Stockholm (+56 bps) experienced the biggest m/m increases in pan-European market-share, excluding OTC volume.
• Euronext Paris (-291 bps), Euronext Amsterdam (-78 bps) and Deutsche Börse (-69 bps) suffered the largest declines in pan-European market-share, excluding OTC volume.
• Several national listing exchanges saw big swings in their home indices. Nasdaq OMX Finland (+364 bps, OMXH), Euronext Brussels (+357 bps, BEL20) and Euronext Lisbon (+293 bps, PSI 20) had the biggest gains. Euronext Amsterdam (-316 bps, AEX), Euronext Paris (-301 bps, CAC) and Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (-281 bps, IBEX) saw the greatest declines (see Listing Venues Market Shares table on page 6).
